Jeff Quinn Real Estate Community Outreach

Mr. Quinn and two U.S. business associates along with an Argentine partner formed Suenitos, a U.S. based non-profit organization working in Buenos Aires.

Suenitos, “Little Dreams” in Spanish, operates in Ciudad Occulta, the Hidden City, a Buenos Aires slum that ranks with the worst in the world. Neglected by almost everyone, it is a place of near hopelessness. Our Suenitos is a childcare center and pre-school that provides a safe and loving environment for children and provides programs to train mothers in employable skills. Keeping children safe and creating opportunity for the mothers through work training and placement is the only hope these families have to escape the crushing poverty, crime, and filth.

Mr. Quinn and his associates purchased a building to house the school and they convinced the government in Buenos Aires to provide the teachers. Now, thirty children spend their days in this safe and stimulating environment.
Efforts are underway to expand the school to accommodate the waiting list of ninety kids and to expand the training program for the mothers.

All financial contributions go 100% to the school.

In 1998 a group of San Diego business professionals led by Gary Jacobs from Qualcomm voted to start a charter school. They engaged Larry Rosenstock, then President of Price Charities in San Diego, as the founding principal. The founding group was clear about its intent: to create a school where students would be passionate about learning and would acquire the basic skills of work and citizenship.

From January 1999 to the opening of the Gary & Jerri-Ann Jacobs High Tech High in September of 2000, Rosenstock and the founding group worked in tandem. Rosenstock located a site, prepared the charter application, hired staff, and oversaw the development of the program, while Jacobs and the business community took the lead in addressing issues of financing and facilities development.

The now nine High Tech High campuses have set the standard for excellence in public school education. High Tech is the recognized model around the globe for innovative education. http://www.hightechhigh.org
